Hi, I'm Kate.

I started Kate Bakes in 2019 from my tiny apartment kitchen in San Francisco — one piping bag, a stand mixer, and a long list of friends getting married.

Five years on, the studio is still small, still mine, and still a little bit obsessed with the meditative art of royal icing. Every cookie is rolled, cut, baked and decorated by my own two hands.

I believe the small, edible details are what make a celebration feel impossibly personal — the kind of thing guests text you about a week later. That's the cookie I want to make for you.
